The Edible Garden and Outdoor Kitchen at the Atlanta Botanical Garden has been one of my favorite spots in the city since its opening in 2010. I absolutely love the idea of growing food in a beautiful, small, urban setting with access to an outdoor teaching kitchen in the garden. It’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy the beauty of growing food and the delicious fresh results of cooking right in the garden. This is one of the reasons why I felt compelled to apply for a position as Garden Chef at the Atlanta Botanical Garden’s Edible Garden.
I’m very excited to announce that I will be joining the team of chefs who teach in the Outdoor Kitchen at the Edible Garden! These classes are free with admission to the Atlanta Botanical Garden. The classes are 20-30 minutes and feature healthy recipes that highlight seasonal produce from the Edible Garden. The classes occur on Thursday nights, Saturday’s and Sunday’s throughout the height of the Edible Garden season, which is May-October.
My first class is next weekend, September, 27th and 28th at noon, 1pm and 2pm, where I will be featuring okra. I will also be teaching on October 11th, 12th and 26th at the same times. Please check my calendar for future classes.
I can’t wait for the opportunity to inspire others to cook with seasonal produce right from the garden.
All of the recipes that I develop for these classes will be available on the recipe section of the Atlanta Botanical Garden website. You can also find recipes featured throughout the garden, like this one.
I hope you will join me at these cooking demonstrations! It’s a wonderful opportunity to gain new ideas and inspiration for healthy seasonal cooking at home.
