Wisdom Kitchen

Wisdom Kitchen is a personal chef business located in Atlanta, Georgia. We provide nutritionally customized personal chef services and teach cooking classes. We strive to make every meal fresh, healthy and delicious. 

Wisdom Kitchen is owned by Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Chef, Ashley (Ritchie) Van Cise. She has dedicated the business to her passion for cooking health-supportive cuisine.

Ashley (Ritchie) Van Cise, RDN, LD is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Professionally Trained Chef. Ashley has over a decade of experience designing health supportive recipes written for home cooks and for the culinary industry, developing nutritionally balanced menus and creating/presenting culinary nutrition education programs customized to meet a wide variety of audiences, including people with diabetes, heart disease, those battling cancer or in remission, children, and people who want to lose weight by eating healthier. Her cooking style emphasizes health-supportive foods that are whole, fresh, local, unprocessed, seasonal, nutritionally balanced and most importantly, DELICIOUS!

How did she get where she is now?

Ashley grew up in a small town outside of Columbus, Ohio. As a kid, Ashley’s mom regularly cooked healthy meals and used their family’s large garden to inspire her in the kitchen. Ashley participated in meals by picking vegetables and fruits from the garden, feeding the chickens and collecting honey from the hives. At 8 years old, Ashley got her first taste of entrepreneurship by selling edible flowers from the family’s garden to a restaurant in Westerville, Ohio in exchange for money and stickers.  When Ashley left home for college, she learned that the college norm of eating didn’t agree with her body or her immune system. She realized nutrition has a big impact on how you feel, and a bad diet can negatively impact your life in more ways than one. Ashley committed herself to study Dietetics and Culinary Arts and became dedicated to making a difference in other people’s lives through healthy eating. 

Ashley earned her B.S. degree in Nutrition from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, and completed her Dietetic Internship at Virginia Tech in Arlington, Virginia. Ashley is a graduate of the National Gourmet Institute of Health and Culinary Arts in New York City, a culinary school that places a strong emphasis on health and alternative cooking methods. It was during her time in NYC, where Ashley studied under some of the most talented and health-minded chefs in the United States and gained restaurant experience at The Green Table, located in Chelsea Market in Manhattan, serving organic food inspired by local ingredients.

Previously, Ashley worked as Senior Culinary Dietitian at the Atlanta, Georgia non-profit Open Hand and social enterprise, Good Measure Meals. In her eight-year tenure at Open Hand and Good Measure Meals, she created healthy and delicious recipes appropriate for high volume production, planned therapeutic and calorie controlled menus that met strict nutrition targets, taught food safety classes and developed and taught cooking and nutrition classes for cooperate wellness programs. Ashley also previously taught Nutrition at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts. 

Ashley is a member of the International Association of Culinary Professionals, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics - including dietetic practice groups: Nutrition Entrepreneurs and Food and Culinary Professionals, and the Georgia Dietetic Association.

In her free time, Ashley enjoys practicing yoga, shopping at Atlanta farmers markets, and taking long walks in Piedmont Park and on the Beltline. Ashley enjoys spending time with her husband, Michael, close friends and her parents, Rita and Ashton, and mother-in-law, Martha, who also live in Georgia.
